Kacey Musgraves has announced her sixth studio album, ‘Middle of Nowhere’, set to be released on 1st May via Polydor Records/Lost Highway.
The album draws inspiration from Musgraves’ hometown of Golden, Texas; the title-track was inspired by a sign there that reads: “Golden, TX: Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere.”
The full-length features collaborations with Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings and Gregory Alan Isakov, and is described by Musgraves as a reflection on “liminal space, both geographical and emotional”.
“The bulk of this record was made during the longest single period of my life,” she explains. “I became so at ease with being in the ‘middle of nowhere’ in many senses and sitting in the un-comfort of the undefined.”
Alongside this announcement, Musgraves has unveiled the album’s first single, ‘Dry Spell’, with a music video co-directed by Musgraves and Hannah Lux Davis.
