Sunflower Bean’s Julia Cumming has announced her debut solo album, ‘Julia’, with a video directed by Edgar Wright

Julia Cumming, known as the frontwoman of Sunflower Bean, has announced her debut solo album.

‘Julia’ will be released on 24th April via Partisan Records, preceded by new single ‘My Life’. The song’s video, directed by Edgar Wright, was filmed in London.

“This song came after a period of intense pressure… It was liberation, and I knew immediately it was the beginning of something new,” she explains.

The album was crafted in Los Angeles with collaborators Brian Robert Jones and producer Chris Coady, accompanied by a studio band featuring notable musicians such as Garrett Ray and Nick Zinner.

She explains she wanted “To use this music as a way out of those external narratives is my dream. It’s a joyous space for the misfits… an album for girls like me.”

Cumming has also announced her first solo performances, including a date at London’s Moth Club in May.

The tracklisting for ‘Julia’ reads:

‘My Life’
‘Revel in the Knowledge’
‘Hollywood Communication’
‘Please Let Me Remember This’
‘Emotional Labor’
‘Ruled By Fear’
‘Fucking Closure’
‘I Dream of a Fire That Stays Burning When Nobody Tends To It’
‘Do It All Again’
‘Sounds of a Secret’
‘Forget The Rest’
