David Byrne has covered Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘drivers license’ for its fifth anniversary

David Byrne has released a cover of Olivia Rodrigo‘s hit single ‘drivers license’, celebrating the song’s fifth anniversary.

The original track, released five years ago today, debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when Olivia was just 17, making her the youngest artist to achieve this feat.

In honour of this milestone, several special editions of ‘drivers license’ are being released via Geffen Records.

A 7” vinyl, pressed on translucent ruby vinyl, features Byrne’s version on Side A and a live performance of ‘burning down the house’ by Rodrigo and Byrne from Governors Ball 2025 on Side B.

Additionally, a Target Exclusive Tiny Vinyl, pressed on fruit punch colour vinyl, includes Rodrigo’s original album version and her live performance of the song at Governors Ball.
