The Twilight Sad have announced their sixth album, ‘It’s The Long Goodbye’

The Twilight Sad have announced their sixth album, ‘It’s The Long Goodbye’, which will be released on 27th March via Rock Action Records.

This marks their first record in seven years and follows the release of the lead track ‘Waiting For The Phone Call’. Their new single ‘Designed To Lose’ also debuts today, featuring a meditative reflection on the human condition.

Singer James Graham described the album as deeply personal, focusing on themes of mental health, grief, and loss. “It had to contain every element of emotion I was feeling,” he said. The album reflects on his mother’s illness and subsequent death, as well as his own mental health challenges.

Graham reflects on the album’s themes, stating, “In the past I’ve used a lot of metaphors within my lyrics. With this, there’s not as much. The record is heavily influenced by my mental health, grief and loss, and the need to be strong in positions where you’re not feeling it. It’s a very human story, I think – this is just my version of it. I feel that everybody goes through something like this. Everybody loses somebody. Everybody questions life.”
