Affection To Rent have released shoegazey new single ‘Cathedral’, and announced their debut headline show

Affection To Rent have unveiled their latest single, ‘Cathedral’.

The track showcases their shoegaze-inspired grunge sound, and follows their debut single ‘If We Fall’ as well as support slots with Gurriers, Feeble Little Horse, and Snõõper. The band will perform their debut headline show at Whelan’s Upstairs in Dublin on 15th November.

Lead singer Abbey Addenbroke-Sheriff says: “The song was sparked by hearing a choir sing from a cathedral in Dublin as I passed in the empty early hours one winter night. We wanted to capture a feeling of being lost in something much larger than yourself, with lyrics to describe the human capacity for vast emotions as the echoing scale of a cathedral interior. It holds all I felt at the time: a curiosity about fate, fear, and passion.”

Abbey Addenbroke-Sheriff, who was chosen for Fontaines DC‘s scholarship programme, leads the band. Guitarist Carlos O’Connell of Fontaines DC commented to NME: “She’s brilliant – it’s exciting to hear such raw talent.”
