John Myrtle has released his second album, ‘The Little World of You and Me’, via Dog Bites Records with a physical vinyl release from Cherry Lime Records.
The record presents a close-knit portrait of love, heartbreak, and everyday detail, developed across sessions in Los Angeles and at Myrtle’s attic studio in Birmingham.
The album features ‘How Do You Break a Heart?’, produced by Jonathan Rado, and ‘We’re Tearing the Heart Out of Love’, mixed by Max Clarke of Cut Worms. The remainder of the record is self-produced by Myrtle.
Speaking about the album, Myrtle explains: “The album is a sharing of small musings on my life in the past couple of years. I’m a homebody really, and wanted to have an album that showed this. Love, heartbreak and dogs are the themes here, and I wanted to create a little world, a small painting, of these few elements and how the small things can keep you keeping on. I recorded How Do You Break a Heart with Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, Lemon Twigs, Cut Worms, the Killers) in LA and also other parts of the record with Tyler Karmen (Kasey Johansing). The trail eventually led me back home though, to my attic in Birmingham to record the bulk of the music. Complete with my dog barking throughout the record. Home is where my heart is. It’s a more complete record than my last in terms of the mood I wanted to create, and as a snapshot into my life at the time I was writing and recording.”
