Saint Etienne have released a new collaborative single with Confidence Man, ‘Brand New Me’. The track is taken from Saint Etienne’s new album, ‘International’, which follows on 5th September via Heavenly Recordings, and arrives with a Hanna-Barbera-inspired animated video directed and animated by Kyle Platts and Matt Lloyd.
Saint Etienne and Confidence Man first connected backstage at Kite Festival in 2022 after discovering they were label mates on Heavenly. The collaboration pairs Saint Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell with Confidence Man’s Janet Planet; the track features shared vocals and spoken word passages.
“I got a message from Danny Mitchell at Heavenly Recordings, Saint Etienne’s spiritual home, about an Australian band they had signed called Confidence Man. Danny told me they were fans of our music and would love to meet and chat about a potential collaboration. We met backstage at a festival and immediately hit it off, kindred spirits! Making ‘Brand New Me’ was a lot of fun and I think it’s a perfect mash up of both our band’s styles,” says Sarah Cracknell
A limited edition pink vinyl 12” for ‘Brand New Me’ features the David Penn remix of ‘7 Ways To Love’ and is available via the band’s store. A 4-track CD edition – featuring ‘A Chance To Breathe’, ‘Carbon Fibre’ and ‘She Needs Love’ – and a black vinyl 12” have both sold out.
The tracklisting for ‘International’ reads:
‘Glad’
‘Dancing Heart’
‘The Go Betweens’
‘Sweet Melodies’
‘Save It For A Rainy Day’
‘Fade’
‘Brand New Me’
‘Take Me To The Pilot’
