Sydney Minsky Sargeant has shared a new track ‘Summer Song’ from his debut solo album ‘Lunga’

Sydney Minsky Sargeant has released ‘Summer Song’, the third track from his forthcoming debut solo album ‘Lunga’.

Despite its title, ‘Summer Song’ offsets pastoral imagery with psychedelic guitars and synths. On the track, he sings, “Come round another time / In another life / And maybe I won’t feel death’s in my stride”.

Talking about the song, Syd says: “It evokes the longing to be taken away from my self and the habits I once had of thinking in certain ways that felt unavoidable.”

‘Lunga’ is Minsky Sargeant’s first album under his own name. Its 12 songs were written over a period of years, beginning in his teens in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, and following a chronology to the present day. The record, co-produced with long-time collaborator Alex Greaves, features Minsky Sargeant on most instruments, with drowsy, ethereal textures and touches that nod towards Nick Drake, Bert Jansch, Bon Iver, Bill Callahan, and Robert Kirby’s string arrangements.

Minsky Sargeant’s work as Working Men’s Club has included appearances at Glastonbury, a UK and European tour, and a performance on Later… with Jools Holland. Working Men’s Club also supported LCD Soundsystem at four shows during the band’s Brixton Academy residency.

Minsky Sargeant will play his first live date with Alex Greaves and Hannah Cobb at Manchester Psych Fest on 30th August, and will make his London debut on 16th September at Stone Nest.
