Chloe Slater has released a Normal People-inspired video for ‘Harriet’

Chloe Slater has shared new single ‘Harriet’, accompanied by a video paying homage to the television version of Normal People.

The Manchester artist’s latest track, produced by Shute, explores themes of romantic jealousy. The release follows her recent UK and EU support tour with Alessi Rose and her ‘Love Me Please’ EP.

‘Harriet is one of my oldest songs,’ Slater shares. ‘I wrote it at 18 in the worst student halls imaginable, during my first heartbreak. There’ve been so many versions since, but this release feels like a little nod to that girl – like a real ‘I made it’ moment.’

The accompanying video, directed by Bonnie MacRae, recreates iconic scenes from Normal People. ‘What started as a running joke about me looking like Daisy Edgar-Jones turned into a full-scale recreation of my favourite scenes,’ Slater explains. ‘We were laughing on set when the shots matched perfectly. I’ve never eaten so many ice lollies in my life!’

MacRae adds: ‘I’ve watched Normal People maybe twelve times, so getting this brief was an actual dream. Chloe and I shared so many of the same references and influences, it made the whole process seamless. To bring Harriet to life in this way, with a track that could genuinely sit alongside the original soundtrack, was such a joy!’

Slater will embark on her ‘Choose A Life’ UK tour this October, partnering with War Child. A £1 contribution from each ticket will support the charity’s work.
