UNIVERSITY have released their new EP ‘Live at The Windmill’, capturing their performance at the iconic London venue.
The Crewe-based four-piece, comprising Zak Bowker (vocals/guitar), Ewan Barton (bass), Joel Smith (drums) and Eddie (mascot), have recorded live versions of tracks from across their catalogue, including ‘History of Iron Maiden pt.2’ and ‘Notre Dame Made Out Of Flesh’ from their debut EP ‘Title Track’. The release also features ‘Massive Twenty One Pilots Tattoo’ and ‘GTA Online’ from their recent album ‘McCartney, It’ll Be OK’.
“It’s a side effect of taking the rest of it more seriously,” Bowker says of the band’s approach to balancing their professional growth with their distinctive sound and style.
Smith discusses the role of their balaclava-wearing companion Eddie, who joins them on stage: “He laid everything down and told us what to record. He’d whip us if we weren’t doing it quickly enough and was pretty horrible to work with to be honest. He was like Frank Zappa, dragging us by the hair back into the studio when we were out having a fag.”
The EP is available digitally, with a physical release coming as part of a limited edition double play cassette featuring an extended full-length set.
