Jamie Woon is back with two new singles after an eight-year hiatus

Jamie Woon has returned with two new singles, ‘Heavy Going’ and ‘A Velvet Rope’, marking his first new music since 2015’s ‘Making Time’.

‘Heavy Going’, produced by Woon alongside Grammy award-winning producer Martin Terefe, features contributions from Dan See on drums and Dave Okumu on guitar. The track was recorded in London and sees Woon exploring themes of self-discovery and personal growth.

“Sometimes the most honest thing you can say is ‘I don’t know’,” Woon says of ‘Heavy Going’. “This song comes from a place of trying to work out how to live your life while you’re still living it. Looking back, it’s a bit like 4 different parts of me all getting a shot at taking the driving seat for a bit – the anxious one, the hustler, the one who wants to check out and the one who dreams of utopia.”

The second track, ‘A Velvet Rope’, was co-written with Holly Walker and Terefe, combining Woon’s characteristic electronic elements with soulful composition and layered vocals.

Woon’s return to music comes after his 2011 debut album ‘Mirrorwriting’, which included the Burial co-produced track ‘Night Air’, and his follow-up album ‘Making Time’ in 2015.
