Au/Ra explores social media addiction with her new single ‘CRACK!’

Au/Ra has released a new single, ‘CRACK!’, marking the start of a new creative era for the alt-pop artist.

The track, written in Los Angeles alongside K.Flay and producer Halo, explores themes of social media addiction and digital disconnection in modern life.

“I wrote CRACK! when I was in a dark place,” Au/Ra explains. “The song is about social media addiction and using the online world as a metaphor for depression; feeling connected but deeply disconnected, numb but still performing like everything’s fine. It reflects the strange normalcy of the digital life we’re in now, where everything feels pixelated and sedated, knowing it’s slowly draining you — and the want to break out of it. But escapism over facing reality always catches up with you.”

The release is accompanied by a music video directed by Andy Mihov, which features Au/Ra navigating through digital environments that represent different stages of identity breakdown.
