Gorillaz are set to headline Pulse of Gaia festival in Madrid this September, marking their only performance outside the UK this year as they celebrate their 25th anniversary.
The virtual band will perform at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid on 20th September, joined by their full live band and featuring visuals from Jamie Hewlett. The performance will showcase hits from across their eight studio albums, spanning from their self-titled 2001 debut to 2023’s ‘Cracker Island’.
The festival lineup also includes Thundercat, bringing his fusion of funk, jazz and psychedelia to the event. Maceo Plex will deliver a techno set, while EREZ will perform their blend of electronica and industrial sounds.
Pulse of Gaia, presented by Zamna Group and conservation organisation Re:wild, aims to forge connections between music and nature. The festival will donate 2 euros from each ticket sale to Re:wild’s conservation efforts.
“Every living thing has an important role to play in its respective ecosystem, including humans,” says Wes Sechrest, CEO of Re:wild. “We are grateful to Zamna for supporting wildlife, wild places, and the people who protect them by donating 2£ per ticket sold to Re:wild. This will allow us to continue our work supporting nature, which is the most effective solution to our interconnected climate, biodiversity, and human wellbeing crises.”
