Robin Kester has shared new single ‘An Hour Per Day’, taken from her forthcoming second album ‘Dark Sky Reserve’, set for release via Memphis Industries on 12th September.
The track emerged from a period of writer’s block and follows a simple creative principle. “I was stuck in my head and struggling to write. So, I followed some simple advice: spend one hour a day doing something you love. For me, that became working on this song,” Kester explains. “What started as a guitar-based demo and a piano noodle grew into a layered, mostly instrumental track shaped by intuitive improvisation, tension, and happy accidents.”
‘Dark Sky Reserve’ follows Kester’s debut album ‘Honeycomb Shades’, with the new record marking her first time recording abroad in Bristol. The album features collaborations with producer Ali Chant, alongside contributions from Rozi Plain and Portishead’s Adrian Utley.
