Deaf Havana have shared new single ‘Hurts To Be Lonely’ ahead of their October album

Deaf Havana are teasing their seventh album ‘We’re Never Getting Out’, set for release on 3rd October via So Recordings, with new single ‘Hurts To Be Lonely’.

The twelve-track album was recorded at Otterhead Studios in Rugby during November 2024, featuring Ross McDonald of The 1975 on bass and drummer Freddie Sheed, known for his work with Lewis Capaldi and Take That.

“I have always wanted to change myself,” James Veck-Gilodi explains. “But I’ve also never really owned up to and accepted my mistakes. I’ve just punished myself, told myself that I hated myself and ended up cosplaying as a completely different person instead. All it took was for me to take the best parts from everything I have done and apply them without actually trying to totally change who I am in the process. Maybe it’s my age or mindset, but I accept who I am now and feel I know how to make myself a good person.”

Speaking about ‘Hurts To Be Lonely’, Veck-Gilodi says, “is one of the only songs that actually made it over from the original album that we scrapped. This song had single handily driven us more insane than any other song, once Matty and I just left the studio because we couldn’t actually hack it anymore. However, it is a song that means a lot to me, it covers the feelings of being completely alone or making your partner feel completely alone in a relationship. I barely remember writing this song but it was one of those ones that just kind of falls out of you. A lot of the lyrical content is about lying about being sober but secretly drinking and taking drugs and ending up completely isolating yourself from everyone else around you.”
