Pulp have shared their new single ‘Got To Have Love’ from upcoming album ‘More’

Pulp have announced their new single ‘Got To Have Love’, the second track to be released from their forthcoming album.

The single follows April’s ‘Spike Island’ and arrives ahead of ‘More’, which will mark the band’s first new album in almost 24 years when it arrives on 6th June.

“‘Love’ is a word I was unable to say until I was approaching 40”, explains Jarvis Cocker. “I listened to love songs all the time but couldn’t use the word in real life. The words to this song are me having a word with myself about this state of affairs. I gave myself a real talking-to. I have now learnt how to say it whilst keeping a straight face. ‘You’ve got to have love’. Oh yes you have.”

Cocker, who directed the accompanying video, has paired the track with footage from the 1977 Wigan Casino documentary by Tony Palmer. “I love dancing – & this is the best footage of dancing I’ve ever seen. I first saw it in Mark Leckey’s ‘Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore’ video,” he adds.

The band have also announced a series of global listening parties for ‘More’, taking place at record shops worldwide. All UK and Ireland events will be held on 29th May, with some attendees receiving limited edition Pulp goodie bags and the opportunity to pre-order a special edition vinyl featuring their local shop’s name.
