Kneecap announce new single ‘The Recap’ arriving next week

Kneecap are set to release a new single titled ‘The Recap’, with the track dropping exclusively via their WhatsApp channel ahead of its streaming platform release.

The Irish hip-hop trio made the announcement via social media, sharing their excitement about the forthcoming release. “Well well a chairde Gael! Back to what it’s all about,” they said. “We’ve a brand new tune out next week that’s [fire]. We’re dropping it before anywhere else on our WhatsApp channel…yis don’t wanna miss this one…”

The announcement follows earlier hints at new music from the group, who posted on X earlier this month with the caption: “New track coming soon….stay tuned…lock down your aerial.” The message sparked speculation about a potential collaboration with Mike Skinner of The Streets, due to the reference to lyrics from The Streets’ ‘Has It Come To This?’, though no confirmation has been made.

This marks Kneecap’s first new material of 2025, following their debut album ‘Fine Art’ and subsequent film starring Michael Fassbender. Speaking to NME about their future plans, Mo Chara said: “New music? Fuck, definitely,” while Móglaí Bap added: “We’ve already started. We’re working on different collaborations, working with different genres, different languages.”

“We’re going back to the music now, because we’ve been doing the movie for the last six months – talking, talking, talking, talking, talking,” Móglaí Bap continued. “Talking about music we don’t mind, but the movie has been very strenuous. We want to go back, make music, have a bit of craic in the studio, and get back to our roots.”

Fans can access the new single first by joining the band’s WhatsApp mailing list through the link in their social media bio.
