Sebastian Schub has announced details of his debut EP ‘Sing Like Madonna’, set for release on 6th June via Island EMI/Capitol Records.
The German-born, London-based artist has also shared new single ‘Scared of Screaming’, produced by Dann Hume in Wales.
“I think Scared of Screaming is more dear to me than any song on this EP. The lyrics were slowly gathering on a note on my phone and for a long time I was struggling to find a home for them that felt appropriate, until I met the wonderful Dann Hume and Theo Hutchcraft. Dann got out his sweet and sultry baritone guitar and two hours later the song was done,” Schub explains.
Beginning his musical journey as an opera singer in Hamburg’s youth opera academy, Schub later moved to London at 17 to pursue acting. When acting work proved scarce, he turned to busking, eventually performing at Camden’s Spiritual Bar, known for hosting early performances from Michael Kiwanuka and Jade Bird.
The EP was created with producer Dann Hume at his studio on Barry Island, Wales, following work with Steve Fitzmaurice and Rob Kirwan.
Schub concludes his UK tour next week with a sold-out show at London’s Hoxton Hall, before embarking on a European headline tour. He will also support Noah Kahan at BST Hyde Park this summer.
