Brògeal have signed with Play It Again Sam and shared their new single ‘Friday On My Mind’.
The Scottish band join a roster that includes Nick Cave, The Hives and Cameron Winter at the independent label. Speaking about the signing, Play It Again Sam’s A&R James O’Donaghue says: “Brògeal are terrific songwriters, incredible live performers and a band that sound unlike anyone else around, they are totally unique. We’re thrilled to welcome them to Play It Again Sam, excited to be in partnership with them and look forward to seeing them fly the flag high for Scottish music.”
The band’s new single ‘Friday On My Mind’ arrives alongside the announcement. Speaking about the track, vocalist Daniel explains: “It is a celebration of falling in love and living through the honeymoon period of a romantic relationship. Its a summer anthem we hope will turn any beer garden or spot in the park into a euphoric singalong that will make an entire party dance and smile. The lyrics are specific to myself being away from a new relationship while recording the album and ‘counting down the days’ til we meet again, the verses are playful and romantic whereas the chorus is tinged with melancholy and self doubts, like many of my songs are, about perhaps going headfirst into things too quickly and the hope that the flame will still be alive once we meet again.”
Brògeal released their self-titled EP in 2024 and have previously supported The Mary Wallopers, The Lathums, Paolo Nutini and The Wolfe Tones.
