Flyte have announced their fourth album ‘Between You and Me’, set for release via Nettwerk on 29th August.
The ten-track record, which follows their 2023 self-titled album, sees Will Taylor and Nick Hill working alongside BRIT Award-winning producer Ethan Johns, known for his work with Paul McCartney and Laura Marling.
The band have also shared new single ‘Hurt People’, which opens the album. The track explores experiences of those going through twelve-step addiction recovery programmes.
“We wanted to write a song entirely set in a twelve-step meeting and make it a celebration of people healing,” Flyte explain. “Those gatherings are often in large multi-purpose spaces, and we love how Ethan evoked that by making the recording of the performance sound so spacious and cinematic, the drums were played outside in the stairwell while we played along inside a more contained part of the studio, which created an instant depth.”
The album was written at Taylor’s North East London flat before the duo joined Johns at his rural studio. The record also features contributions from Aimee Mann and follows previously released singles ‘Emily and Me’ and ‘I’m Not There’.
