Yungblud has revealed that Lewis Capaldi is working on new material, describing the Scottish singer-songwriter’s upcoming music as “great”.
Speaking to The Sun whilst promoting his latest single ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’, Yungblud offered an update on his close friend’s progress. “I have heard his new music, and it sounds great. He is getting his mental health right,” he said.
The update follows Capaldi’s step back from performing in 2023 after his Glastonbury set was affected by vocal tics, a symptom of Tourette’s Syndrome. Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, also shared how Capaldi influenced his own recent single.
“When I was making this album, I was really close with Lewis, and Lewis was like, ‘Just fucking sing, man’,” he explained. “I love him, as me and him have been on this ride together. We experienced it at the same time, and he is perhaps the only friend who knows what I am going through, in the same way I know what he’s going through.”
The pair’s friendship dates back to their early careers, with both artists previously sharing stories of their time as roommates while trying to get signed. In 2019, Yungblud spoke about their shared history, noting how they would often be “getting drunk five nights a week” and “caused so much trouble.”
‘Hello Heaven, Hello’ marks Yungblud’s first release since 2024’s ‘Breakdown’ and serves as the first preview of his forthcoming album, which will be his first full-length release since his self-titled record in 2022.
