Fontaines D.C. have released a cover version of Bring Me The Horizon’s ‘Can You Feel My Heart’, which incorporates elements of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’.
The performance, recorded for Triple J’s ‘Like A Version’ series, sees the Irish band reimagining the track from Bring Me The Horizon’s 2013 album ‘Sempiternal’, blending it with Nirvana’s song from their 1993 release ‘In Utero’. The band have stripped back the arrangement, removing the guitars to create a more minimal interpretation.
Guitarist Conor Curley explains the choice of cover: “It was Grian [Chatten, vocalist]’s idea initially and I think the sound of that song – the kind of electronic elements and just the general vibe of it – reflects stuff that we were touching on on our last album ‘Romance’. So it seemed like a good place to start, and it’s a moody, beautiful song.”
The cover follows the release of Fontaines D.C.’s fourth studio album ‘Romance’, which arrived via XL Recordings in 2024.
