Lip Filler embrace an “angsty-emotional rock vibe” for their new single ‘Laugh Track’

Lip Filler have released their new single ‘Laugh Track’ ahead of their upcoming UK tour.

The London-based band recorded the track directly to tape with St Francis Hotel, known for their work with Little Simz and Greentea Peng. It explores themes of helplessness when watching someone’s self-destructive behaviour.

“It’s taken us a while but we’re settling into an angsty-emotional rock vibe. Big, loud, passionate. We’re all artists and producers individually in our own right, so Lip Filler as a project is everything that we’d want a band to be: a sound so dense and characterful that you can barely believe it fits into a stereo recording,” the band say.

Vocalist George Tucker elaborates on the track’s inspiration: “Laugh Track is about dealing with someone who is self-destructive, seeing how painful it is looking from the outside in and knowing that there is something that is troubling them but they’re struggling to get it under control. You realise that there is nothing you can do – you yourself feel powerless to help them – and in seeing this one individual case of someone in dire need of love and care, you realise how many instances there must be of the same thing all over the world. The song is about the internal battle we all face every day, and how our individual behaviour in trying to deal with it shapes the world we live in, for better or for worse. And this was all inspired by a date I went on with a girl I met on Hinge. Never a dull moment on that app.”
