Wet Leg’s return has stepped up another gear, as the band share a snippet of what seems to be their comeback single.
The 30 second clip, which sees Rhian Teasdale lip-syncing to the new song, features the lyrics: “Can you catch a medicine ball / can you catch yourself when you fall / you should be careful, do you catch my drift / because what I really want to know is can you catch these fists?”
Wet Leg made their first real sign of activity earlier this week. Posting on social media, the band wriote “we’re so back”, alongside a link to their website and a photo featuring Rhian and Hester alongside the rest of their band, and a rather demonic looking fella.
On their website, a message reads: “Salutations, lonely heart. You have wandered far, but you are home now. Enter Moisturizer Valley – where the skin never cracks, and the body never withers. Enroll now. Learn how to live forever.”
Signing up takes you through to a new website with the scrolling message ‘This is the real world hunni’.
So, what concrete information is available about Wet Leg’s next move? While the band’s current teasers stop short of naming a new album or release date (though ‘Moisturizer Valley’ is a good bet), there have been hints for a while now that Wet Leg have been working on fresh material. Back in late 2022, during the Mercury Prize awards event, Rhian hinted that Wet Leg’s second album was already in progress. In an interview on the red carpet, she joked that the next record would be “like the last one, but longer, bigger, better, faster, stronger and more fluorescent.” At that time, the duo noted that they had started writing new songs, although those songs were “far from finished.” Hester added with a laugh that the sophomore effort would simply be “a bit of this and a bit of that.”
Since then, official details have been scarce, but it’s clear the band has been gearing up behind the scenes. Wet Leg spent much of 2023 on the road, including high-profile support slots (such as opening for Harry Styles on tour) and festival appearances. 2025 has long looked likely to be a landing slot for Wet Leg’s next album, with the band confirming live dates for the near future. This latest snippet suggests we’ll be getting the first taster of that very soon indeed.
