Mamalarky have announced their new album ‘Hex Key’, alongside sharing new single ‘#1 Best of All Time’.
The tri-coastal indie rock quartet’s latest full-length, which marks their Epitaph Records debut, was recorded in their Los Angeles home studio.
“Through a lot of games of UNO I’ve discovered I’m actually a pretty competitive person. And somehow, the feeling of losing has become highly motivating to me. I always feel like I’m competing against myself, trying to best my last attempt at whatever I’ve set out to do. Like, you probably can’t be the best of all time, but you’ll always be the best you of all time–no one can dispute that,” Bennett explains of the new single.
The album follows their 2022 release ‘Pocket Fantasy’, with the band taking a more focused approach to their songwriting. “It’s never ‘kick your feet up, let’s see what happens,’” Bennett notes. “We’re always staring each other deeply in the eyes saying ‘Let’s make this next take incredible.’ We never settle.”
The band have emphasised their commitment to sonic diversity throughout the record. “The worst thing you can say about a Mamalarky song is ‘This sounds like another song of yours’,” Khan says.
‘Hex Key’ contains thirteen tracks, including previously released singles ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ and ‘Feels So Wrong’. The full tracklist reads:
‘Broken Bones’
‘Won’t Give Up’

‘Take Me’
