Abbey Road has confirmed the sixth edition of Equalise festival, with free recording workshops

Abbey Road Studios are set to host their sixth annual Equalise festival, running from 3rd-8th March, offering free recording workshops for aspiring female and non-binary artists and creatives.

The programme will welcome eight aspiring engineers and producers each day, featuring workshop sessions from artists including Aziya (pictured), Divorce, Man/Woman/Chainsaw, Fiona-Lee, and Flowerovlove, with a final act to be announced for 8th March.

Each artist will record new music during their studio session, with producer and alternative pop artist Sarah Meyz producing and Abbey Road’s Assistant Engineer Marta Di Nozzi engineering.

“I am incredibly proud that the Abbey Road Equalise programme is entering its sixth year,” says Abbey Road’s Managing Director, Sally Davies. “At Abbey Road, we believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive music industry and Equalise plays a vital role in creating opportunities for talented young women and non-binary individuals. By providing young talent with access to our facilities and mentorship from our engineers, we hope to empower the next generation of creative talent to shape the sound of tomorrow. Equalise is not just about providing technical skills; it’s about fostering a supportive community and breaking down barriers for underrepresented voices.”

The initiative, which began in 2020, aims to address the gender imbalance in music production and engineering, where less than 5% of professionals are female. Over its six-year history, Abbey Road Equalise has developed various programmes coinciding with International Women’s Day, Pride and Trans Day of Visibility.
