Sabrina Carpenter joins SNL sketch as Domingo character makes his musical return

Sabrina Carpenter has appeared in the latest Saturday Night Live sketch featuring recurring character Domingo, alongside her performance at SNL’s 50th anniversary special.

The singer took part in both the opening of the show, performing ‘Homeward Bound’ with Paul Simon, and appeared in a wedding-themed sketch later in the broadcast. The skit featured Carpenter as Sophie, a character who missed the original wedding due to being “in prison,” attending a vow renewal ceremony for Kelsey (Chloe Fineman) and Matt (Andrew Dismukes).

The sketch, which opened with Martin Short and Molly Shannon as the bride’s parents, included musical parodies of ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked and Taylor Swift’s ‘You Belong With Me’. Shannon’s character declared to the newlyweds, “Kelsey and Matt, may you have a marriage as loving and passionate as Daddy and me.”

The performance also featured the return of cast member Marcello Hernandez’s character Domingo, who was joined by his brothers Ronaldo (Pedro Pascal) and Santiago (Bad Bunny) in a storyline involving the groom’s secret new flame.

The three-hour anniversary special was broadcast live from New York City on NBC and Peacock.
