Kim Petras has recorded a Simlish version of her track ‘XXX’ to mark the 25th anniversary of The Sims.
The new version of the track, which originally appeared on Petras’ 2022 EP ‘Slut Pop’, is now available via The Sims 4’s Pop Radio station. The release comes alongside a Simlish version of Gigi Perez’s ‘Fable’, which features on the game’s Alternative Radio station.
This isn’t Petras’ first contribution to The Sims’ unique language, with a Simlish version of ‘Malibu’ added to The Sims 4 in 2020. The game has previously featured Simlish versions of tracks from artists including Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Lily Allen and mxmtoon.
To commemorate the anniversary, EA have also re-released the first two games in The Sims series for PC and hosted a 25-hour livestream featuring Doja Cat. During her appearance, Doja Cat said: “I’ve been playing The Sims since I was nine and I played [all of them], even the ones in the future. This game is more than filling houses with ovens, making toast and torturing people. There’s so much more to this game. I think that the most important thing to know is that you can create your own scenarios, characters, experiences and you can take it wherever you want to take it. Do your thing, because that’s what I do.”
EA have confirmed that the next game in the series will not be a direct sequel to The Sims 4. “The way to think about it is, historically, The Sims franchise started with Sims 1 and then Sims 2, 3, and 4. And they were seen as replacements for the previous products,” Sims general manager Kate Gorman explained. “We are not going to be working on replacements of previous projects [any more]; we’re only going to be adding to our universe.”
