HANNAHBELLA is teasing her new EP ‘Parasite’ and with its first single, ‘Dainty Fae’.
The Cork-based experimental electronic-pop artist – who’s previously opened for the likes of Baby Queen, Essiray, and The Cliffords – recorded and mixed the new track alongside producer Jessica Richardson (WhenTheBeatIsBad).
“‘Dainty Fae’ tells the story of a fae who, abandoned and consumed by loneliness, finds herself seething in self-pity. It’s a haunting exploration of isolation, yet wrapped in an unexpected, playful sonic package,” HANNAHBELLA explains.
“The song began with a beat by Joe Keniry, which I then built upon before bringing it to my band. It quickly became a crowd favourite during live shows, evolving into something far more expansive as we added layers and depth with the talents of the musicians around me!”
She continues: “Sonically, I wanted to create a sharp contrast between the raw emotion of the lyrics and the upbeat, funky pop elements of the track. Honestly, I was initially intimidated by the fun and lighthearted vibe, but I fully leaned into it, and the recording process ended up being such a joy! We brought ‘Dainty Fae’ to life at Wavefield Recordings in West Cork with Brian Casey, who truly understood the essence of this record and helped craft the magical, vibrant world for this fae to inhabit. The result is a song that balances whimsy and darkness, capturing the emotional complexity of feeling abandoned in a playful yet poignant way.”
