Pop provocateur Charli XCX leads this year’s BRIT Awards nominations with five nods, including Album of the Year for her critically acclaimed ‘BRAT’.
The nominations, announced today (23rd January), see Charli recognised across Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Pop Act, Dance Act, and Song of the Year categories. The recognition follows a transformative year that saw ‘BRAT’ top Dork’s 2024 album rankings.
Theatrical newcomers and former Dork cover stars The Last Dinner Party follow with four nominations, building on their BBC Sound of 2024 and BRITs Rising Star victories. The band are up for Best New Artist, Group of the Year, Alternative/Rock Act, and Album of the Year for their gold-certified debut ‘Prelude to Ecstasy’.
Dua Lipa secures three nominations on the back of ‘Radical Optimism’, which topped charts in 11 countries and spawned two sold-out Wembley Stadium shows following her lauded Glastonbury headline set. The global superstar competes in the Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Pop Act categories.
Indie-pop queen Rachel Chinouriri pulls off a remarkable double nomination for Best New Artist and Artist of the Year, while two-time 2024 Grammy winner Fred Again.. appears in both Artist of the Year and Dance Act categories. There’s also nominations for JADE, Sam Fender, Ezra Collective, English Teacher, Beabadoobee, Nia Archives, The Cure, Amyl & The Sniffers, Fontaines D.C., Confidence Man, Djo, Little Simz, Adrianne Lenker, Chappell Roan, Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and more.
Fan voting opens on 31st January via the BRIT Awards WhatsApp channel for five genre-based categories: Dance Act, Pop Act, R&B Act, Alternative/Rock Act, and Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act. Voting closes on 14th February.
