Lady Gaga is counting down to something

KEY UPDATE

UPDATED: 5:44 AM BY LUCY PHILLIPS

Mother Monster is back to her old tricks, serving up a deliciously cryptic countdown on her website that’s got us all playing digital detective. The pop pioneer’s homepage is currently sporting a mysterious timer set to hit zero on January 27th, while sneakily cycling through references to her past albums – yesterday showing ‘LG1’, today displaying ‘LG2’.

The countdown is widely expected to reveal details of her seventh studio album (affectionately dubbed ‘LG7’ by fans), which has already gifted us the singles ‘Disease’ and ‘Die With A Smile’. Gaga has already teased that the record “leaps around genre in a way that’s almost corrupt” and ends up “in a very happy place”.

Grimes distances herself from Elon Musk controversy following Trump rally appearance

UPDATED: 5:42 AM BY ANDREW WESCOTT

Grimes has taken to social media to address mounting pressure for her to comment on recent controversial actions by her former partner, Elon Musk, at a Donald Trump rally. The star expressed frustration at being expected to answer for her ex’s behaviour, stating “It’s absurd that someone can be this cancelled for something their ex did before they even heard it happened. I am not him. I will not make a statement every time he does something.”

The artist, who separated from Musk in 2022, emphasised her position as a non-US citizen and her desire to avoid adding to what she describes as a world “overstimulated by scandal.”

While I deeply respect your concern- it is unhealthy that people are this upset when I have not even been online yet today and am only just learning about this controversy now. I don’t know what happened and I will not make a rash statement – I am not a citizen of this country.…

Scowl are ready to make hardcore even more heavenly

KEY UPDATE

UPDATED: 5:39 AM BY DAN HARRISON

Scowl have just dropped an absolute belter with their new single “Not Hell, Not Heaven,” alongside news of their sophomore album ‘Are We All Angels’. The new track sees vocalist Kat Moss delivering her most melodic performance yet, proving that even the most ferocious of punk outfits can find beauty in the bedlam.

Working with producer Will Yip, the band have evolved from their self-described “baby’s first hardcore band” origins into something properly special. ‘Are We All Angels’ is set to descend from the heavens on 4th April, featuring 11 tracks including last year’s aptly-titled “Special”. The band will be taking their new tunes on the road supporting Movements and Citizen across North America, kicking off in Tempe, Arizona on 1st March.

Self Esteem is ready for her complicated era

KEY UPDATE

UPDATED: 5:38 AM BY DAN HARRISON

Rebecca Lucy Taylor has only gone and done it again, announcing her hotly-anticipated new album ‘A Complicated Woman’ alongside a properly gorgeous new single ‘Focus Is Power’. The track, which features a spine-tingling choir of predominantly female voices, serves as the perfect appetiser for what’s shaping up to be another masterclass in empowerment pop from Sheffield’s finest.

‘A Complicated Woman’ is set to grace our ears on April 25th via Polydor, and it’s bringing some seriously exciting collaborators along for the ride. The 12-track collection will feature guest appearances from the likes of Moonchild Sanelly, Nadine Shah, and Life Without Buildings’ Sue Tompkins.
