My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way features in new Dungeons & Dragons arcade game

Gerard Way has joined the voice cast of a new Dungeons & Dragons pinball machine.

The My Chemical Romance frontman appears alongside Dethklok’s Brendon Small, and filmmakers Kevin Smith and Chris Prynoski in the new arcade game, titled ‘Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye’. The game features an original score by Chris Velasco, known for his work on ‘Bloodborne’ and ‘Mass Effect 2’.

The game casts players as members of the Dragonshield Guild, tasked with defeating dragon queen Tiamat. Players navigate hidden passageways and encounter features including an electromagnet-powered gelatinous cube that freezes the pinball, and dynamic dungeon levels accessed through a disappearing playfield trap door. Additional elements include Fizmo’s store for item acquisition and a treasure chest containing mimic monsters.

Way, a longstanding Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, has previously documented his involvement with the game. “I always played a half-elven ranger. I like rangers – they can track things down and use a bow,” Way explained in a 2015 interview with Time Out. “It was always hard finding clerics though: to find a friend of yours that’d want to play a guy with a mace that healed people. That was very hard.”
