Mahalia has returned with new single ‘Pick Up The Pace’, featuring Jamaican artist Bayka.
‘Pick Up The Pace’ marks Mahalia’s first release since her second album ‘IRL’, which arrived over a year ago and saw her on the cover of Dork.
“There’s clearly something between us, so let’s just move forward,” Mahalia says of the track’s message. Speaking about the collaboration, she adds: “I wanted to celebrate artists like Bayka — these incredible Jamaican voices — and give the UK a moment to reconnect with the dancehall and reggae that helped shape our sound.”
“I love love,” she shares about her current musical direction, “but lately, I’m embracing the fun, unserious side of it all. There’s so much heaviness in the world, so I’m just trying to find those moments of joy and playfulness in my music.”
