The Velveteers have released their new single ‘Suck The Cherry’.
The Colorado-based trio’s new album ‘A Million Knives’, produced by Dan Auerbach, will arrive on 14th February 2025 via Easy Eye Sound. The thirteen-track collection follows their 2021 debut ‘Nightmare Daydream’ and was written after a period of extensive touring.
“I wrote ‘Suck The Cherry’ on a hot summer’s day when I was locked away in a cabin in Paonia, CO,” frontwoman Demi Demitro explains. “All I had with me for entertainment was my guitar, a notebook, a little drum machine and some cherries I had picked up earlier that day from the farmers market. I was messing around on the drum machine and found this beat that ended up influencing the entire song. It had this poppy/dancey feel but at the same time punk attitude. It had this chorus that was just so fun to sing, and it would always get stuck in my head.”
The band – which features Demitro alongside dual drummers Baby Pottersmith and Jonny Fig, who perform on a conjoined kit – have also shared a video for the track, directed by Nashville filmmaker Bella Mazzola.
