STONE have released a new version of ‘Save Yourself’, featuring DOPE LEMON.
The song, originally the closing track of the Liverpool quartet’s debut album ‘Fear Life For A Lifetime’, has been reworked to include vocals and instrumentation from DOPE LEMON, the project of Australian artist Angus Stone.
Frontman Fin Power says, “I never would have believed you if you told me I would have gotten one of my favourite musicians to play and sing on one of my records. I guess if I never plucked up the courage to ask then it wouldn’t happen, so it’s another lesson for myself to always go for it as the worst they can say is no.”
The collaboration came about after Power and Stone met at festivals in the Netherlands and Belgium in 2023.
Angus Stone adds, “Yeah it was a sizzling hot summers afternoon at a festival in Holland, we were all kicking backstage after our set amidst the many rascals & scallywag rockstars… myself & Dope Lemon were having some frosty beers on a picnic table enjoying the arvo when we met the most wonderful humans who… just so turned out to write incredible songs from the heart. Connecting on this tune was a great pleasure. I haven’t heard a band with this kind of honesty & magic for a long time. May the lemon be with you.”
