Hope Tala has released a new single titled ‘Thank Goodness’.
The West London artist’s latest track is described as a summer-themed anthem about the relief of avoiding a difficult situation.
The single follows Hope’s recent inclusion on Barack Obama’s 2024 Summer Playlist with her song ‘I Can’t Even Cry’. This marks the third year Hope has appeared on the former president’s playlist, following previous inclusions in 2022 and 2020.
Speaking about the new single, Hope Tala says: “I experienced a pretty horrible breakup not too long before writing this song. As I explained everything that had been going on in my life at the time to Caroline Ailin and Stint, who I made it with, I used the phrase ‘thank goodness’. Once we finished chatting, Caroline said we should use the phrase as a title. I was a bit taken aback at first – I probably wouldn’t have considered using it if I had been writing on my own – but once the song was finished I remember thinking wow, this is exactly what I’ve been wanting to say. Then it really became my ‘better off’ anthem.”
The track follows Hope’s recent releases ‘Bad Love God’ and ‘I Can’t Even Cry’, which are part of an upcoming project. Last month, Hope performed supporting SZA at BST Hyde Park.
Hope Tala has also announced a mini tour for October, featuring performances in London, New York and Los Angeles.
