Aziya has shared ‘call my name (lux lisbon)’, inspired by The Virgin Suicides

Aziya has unveiled her new single ‘call my name (lux lisbon)’.

The track is inspired by Sofia Coppola‘s 1999 film adaptation of The Virgin Suicides, particularly the character of Lux Lisbon, portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in the movie.

Co-produced by Aziya, Joe Page, and Romil Hemnani (known for his work with BROCKHAMPTON and Jack Antonoff), the single follows Aziya’s previous release ‘crush (tom verlaine)’. It marks the third single since her second EP ‘LONELY CASTLES’, which was released late last year.

Aziya explains the inspiration behind the new song: “‘Girlhood is a dangerous thing. That was my immediate thought after watching ‘The Virgin Suicides’ by Sofia Coppola. When the movie ended I thought ‘But what about Lux Lisbon? I have no idea how she felt in any of this, and I wish I did.’ It made me want to tell her story, all the love, fear, innocence, vulnerability and firsts that you experience as a girl. It’s a song about learning when to build your walls up, and when it’s safe for you to let them down. It’s an insight into how it feels to be a girl sometimes.”

Aziya has a busy August ahead, with performances scheduled at several festivals and as support for Canadian artist thxsomch’s UK tour dates. Her upcoming appearances include:
