Melbourne trio Blusher have released ‘Overglow – Jade’s Version’, a reimagining of their latest single.
The new version, which features band member Jade’s Omnichord prominently, was teased during recent live performances at Latitude Festival and the band’s own headline show.
“This is what ‘Overglow’ sounds like in a parallel universe where everyone has blue hair and a hover car,” Jade says. “I wanted this remix to feel like a slow motion explosion in space.”
Jade’s Version of ‘Overglow’ is the third in a series of remixes by Blusher, following Miranda’s version of ’24 Hours in Paris’ and Lauren’s reimagining of ‘Accelerator’.
Describing her process, Jade explains: “I love combining ethereal elements with gritty bass lines, so I used my trusty old Omnichord (a synth made by Suzuki in the 80s) to get that beautiful metallic harp sound. Then I layered it with a bass that sounded like a malfunctioning motorbike. I used a sample of a helicopter propeller to add this feeling of levitation, and as a little nod to our single Accelerator. I was working on it in my old childhood bedroom in Melbourne, and I thought – you know what this needs? A vintage Disney vocal style outro. That was the finishing touch that really made it feel like Jade’s version.”
