South London sibling duo PUNCHBAG, comprising Clara and Anders Bach, have unveiled their latest single ‘What’s In My Bag’.
It’s taken from their upcoming EP ‘I Am Obsessed’, set for release on 10th April via Mute. The announcement coincides with the news of their debut UK and European headline tour slated for this spring.
Vocalist Clara explains, “Initially inspired by the ‘What’s In My Bag’ lifestyle videos you see online and thinking about how no amount of SPF beauty products can wash away your sins. Essentially, it’s about feeling like you’re trapped in the trash of your bag, smacking into a granola bar snack here and there. So yes, an everyday feeling. It’s an overdose of overconsumption and feeling ‘trashy’. But somehow in a fun way?”
Speaking about their second EP, the duo comment, “If our first EP was a selfie, these new songs are like zooming in and thinking, ‘fucking hell my pores look huge’. This EP is turning up the contrast on everyday life, rinsing the disgusting dish towel so far that all the gunk comes out. It’s pushing PUNCHBAG’s sonic world even further, into a grander landscape, and dramatising the everyday more than ever before.”
