The XCERTS have returned with their latest single ‘do it to myself’, marking their first original release since 2023 and their debut under the new label FLG Records.
Vocalist and guitarist Murray Macleod explains, “There’s a desperate urgency about this song. It’s an admission of my fragility and tendency to self-sabotage when things aren’t good as they are. It’s a hard indie rock song, but the lyrics and vocal delivery are really vulnerable. That conflicting feeling was intentional – we wanted it to feel uncomfortable, honest, and human.”
The song was written collaboratively in the same room, a process not undertaken for their 2023 album ‘Learning How to Live and Let Go’, to capture the shared energy of the trio.
