Robbie Williams has unexpectedly released his new album ‘BRITPOP’, now available through Columbia Records.
The record – which marks Williams’ 13th studio album and includes the singles ‘Rocket’, ‘Spies’, ‘Human’, ‘Pretty Face’, and ‘All My Life’ – was originally set for release on 6th February.
The album features collaborations with notable artists such as Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Gaz Coombes of Supergrass, Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath, Mexican pop duo Jesse & Joy, and Gary Barlow.
Williams comments, “You thought it was gonna be then… then we decided it wasn’t… and now I’ve decided it’s now. Ladies and Gentlemen: ‘BRITPOP’ – the album.”
Of the record itself, he explains, “I set out to create the album that I wanted to write and release after I left Take That in 1995. It was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British Music. I’ve worked with some of my heroes on this album; it’s raw, there are more guitars and it’s an album that’s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual. There’s some ‘Brit’ in there and there’s certainly some ‘pop’ too – I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I’m excited for fans to hear this album.”
Following the release, Williams will embark on the ‘Long 90’s Tour’ next month, offering intimate performances in Glasgow, Liverpool, London, and Wolverhampton.
The dates read:
FEBRUARY
4 Barrowlands Ballroom, Glasgow
6 Liverpool Olympia, Liverpool
8 O2 Academy Brixton, London
9 Civic Hall, Wolverhampton
