Hotel Lux have released their new single ‘Joy’, a track from their forthcoming second album ‘The Bitter Cup’, due on 14th November.
This new album reflects a period of rediscovery for the group, both as artists and friends approaching their late twenties.
Discussing ‘Joy’, they explain, “Joy was one of the first songs we wrote for the album, and was completed in one session in our old practice space. The relentless nature of the tune seemed a natural fit to explore the heady and indulgent times of the past few years in South London, both celebrating and cursing the days and nights spent roving from Deptford to Peckham Rye.”
‘Joy’ is part of an album that Hotel Lux have self-produced at Big Jelly Studios, a decision guitarist Sam Coburn describes as “Something that felt completely natural, but also entirely necessary.” Guitarist Max Oliver adds, “If you can’t trust yourselves, who can you?”
