Ezra Furman has released her new “better than the Barbie movie” single, ‘One Hand Free’

Ezra Furman has released a new standalone single, ‘One Hand Free’, ahead of her forthcoming North American tour.

The track is a product of the same studio sessions that produced her tenth album, ‘Goodbye Small Head’, which came out earlier this year. The accompanying video, directed by JJ Gonson, features Furman amidst various animals, including birds and lizards.

Ezra Furman describes the song as “a jaunty back-porch breakup/depression song about feeling so bad you’re not sure what species you even belong to anymore.” She further comments, “We left it off ‘Goodbye Small Head’ because it was too good. It’s better than Jason Aldean. Better than the Barbie movie. Better than Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Cue the sound of one hand clapping, a Zen round of applause.”

Furman and her band will soon embark on a 9-date North American tour, starting in Montreal. Following this, they will return to the UK and Europe for a series of 14 shows, concluding at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on 4th February.
