Good Neighbours – Blue Sky Mentality

Label: Capitol / Polydor Records
Released: 26th September 2025

Good Neighbours’ debut album ‘Blue Sky Mentality’ is pure indie-pop sunshine – 14 tracks built for dancing, shouting along and pretending everything’s a-ok for 45 minutes.

Formed in late 2023 by Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, the duo channel big feelings through even bigger choruses. From the bouncing piano of opener ‘Keep It Up’ to the lighters-up finale of ‘The Buzz’, it’s relentlessly upbeat. Even when it leans into grief, loneliness and the general chaos of growing up, it stays wrapped in hooks and handclaps. There’s whistling (‘Home’), mid-00s indie disco sparkle (‘Ripple’, ‘Starry Eyed’), and lyrics that scream “nothing but blue skies” even when the clouds are obvious.

Good Neighbours are built on catharsis. They take emotional weight and launch it skywards, whether through the stomping optimism of ‘Keep It Up’ or the hands-around-your-mates warmth of ‘People Need People’, a track about community and connection.

‘Starry Eyed’ already feels like a classic, while ‘Home’ is still their crown jewel: big, emotional and moving. ‘Wonderful Life’ and ‘Suburbs’ stretch things out slightly, hinting at a slower, softer side, but they never let the energy dip for long.

‘Blue Sky Mentality’ is indie-pop at its most open-hearted. It’s not trying to be edgy or cool. It just wants to make you feel something. Preferably with your arms in the air, on someone’s shoulders, in a field full of strangers who know every word.
