A day in the life of… PUNCHBAG

You know what’s easier than following around your fave pop stars, day in, day out, to see what they’re up to right that minute? Asking them. This month, we nab PUNCHBAG.

9:00am   Wake up to our rooster.

9:10am We begin the 4-step routine:

1. Wax. 2. Ice plunge (face and feet). 3. Go outside for a few minutes for a bit of natural light. 4. Daily affirmations to reduce anxiety and fatigue.

10:00am Start living.

10:20am Check we’ve got all of our equipment, don’t want to bore you with a rig rundown, but best know we are packing heat.

11:00am Begin packing said heat into way too low protection suitcases.

11:20am Begin the pilgrimage to the rehearsal space, ramming four suitcases and a guitar bag onto the 53 bus.

11:45am Arrive at rehearsal space to get down the new epic intro we made a few days ago and go through the set with our homies Aron and Darcey (meet the band).

3:00pm Finish rehearsal, head to the venue and pick up some meal deals. If you’re interested: Anders has picked a chicken bacon stuffing sandwich, scotch egg and a can of coke (it’s a bad day to be the meat industry), Clara has a tuna sweetcorn sandwich, prawn cocktail crisps and the purple naked smoothie.

4:00pm   Arrive at the venue, Bermondsey Social Club.

5:00pm Clara starts to lather soap into her eyebrows to stick them up for optimum face snatch; Anders very kindly holds the mirror whilst Clara applies eyeliner on her waterline, after recently discovering that using eyeshadow to set it helps it not run down the face, which is really lovely.

6:00pm Soundcheck, warm voice up with yellow silicone straw and generally feel a bit butterfly-y about the fact we are playing our first-ever headline show that is sold out.

8:30pm Watch the amazing Ena Mori, who opened for us, who we are now such fangirls of.

9:30pm Walk on stage and actually nearly tear up because of how amazing it was seeing that many people in one room for PB (soooo special!); play our favourite show we have ever done!

10:20pm Come off stage and agree with each other that that was maybe one of the best 50 mins of our lives? Also maybe the sweatiest? Felt like Stuart Little in that scene where he gets stuck in the washing machine. Then chat to everyone and drink some beer.

11:30pm Have to leave the venue but refuse to go home so find somewhere else that’s open til late.

3:00am Uber home, make some eggs on toast then sleep.
