Self Esteem’s Rebecca Lucy Taylor is set to make her West End play debut, starring in the 50th anniversary revival of David Hare’s ‘Teeth ‘n’ Smiles’.
Produced by Wessex Grove and Gavin Kalin Productions and directed by Daniel Raggett, the production will run for 12 weeks at the Duke of York’s Theatre from March 2026. Further casting, creative team details, and full dates are to follow, with tickets due to go on sale in October 2025.
The revival marks a return to the stage for Taylor following her run as Sally Bowles in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. Alongside starring as Maggie Frisby, she will contribute new additional music and lyrics to Hare’s play, which features music by Nick Bicât and lyrics by Tony Bicât.
Originally premiered at the Royal Court in 1975, ‘Teeth ‘n’ Smiles’ centres on a band in decline and its uncompromising lead singer, set against the fallout of 60s counterculture.
Rebecca Lucy Taylor comments: “I’m deeply honoured to be bringing Teeth ‘n’ Smiles back for its 50th anniversary. I love to challenge myself in new forms and I can’t wait to slap you round the face with Maggie. I am a huge fan of Daniel and David’s work, and the chance to collaborate with them on such a landmark production is something I am insanely excited about.”
