Ho99o9 don’t ease you in. ‘Tomorrow We Escape’ opens with a blast and barely lets up, channelling pain, frustration and raw power into 11 tracks that feel more like survival tactics than songs. The duo, theOGM and Yeti Bones, have never sounded more emotionally tuned in or sonically unhinged.
From the first moments of ‘I Miss Home’, there’s a sense of urgency. The bass hits hard, and so does the message: knowing who you are and where you’re from. ‘Target Practice’ is one of the strongest tracks here, blunt and bruising, with a commentary on exploitation: “Another label telling me what’s a hit.” The production is wild; Blade Runner synths, glitchy textures and throat-tearing vocals collide into something furious and undeniably powerful.
The guests across the album are impressively well-integrated. ‘Incline’ brings Nova Twins, Pink Siifu and Yung Skrrt together for a high-energy standout. Greg Puciato is unleashed on ‘Tapeworm’, and Chelsea Wolfe adds eerie elegance to ‘Immortal’, her presence haunting and beautiful.
The core strength of the album lies in its heavier, darker moments. ‘LA Riots’ is a blast of confidence and control, while ‘Godflesh’ is pure chaos, with a double-bass climax and screamed affirmations that feel like a final exorcism: fearless and unflinchingly intense.
This is Ho99o9 showing range without losing edge. ‘Tomorrow We Escape’ is a declaration of survival, rage and identity. It doesn’t just work, it hits like a detonation.
