Cavetown has announced a new album, ‘Running With Scissors’, for 16th January, and shared a new single and video, ‘Rainbow Gal’.
The project arrives via Futures Music Group. ‘Rainbow Gal’ is described as a synth-led love song drawing on Robin Skinner’s relationship. “’Rainbow Gal’ is like a light display turned into a song, she brings all the color into my life,” says Robin Skinner.
The record follows recent single ‘Baby Spoon’. Written after a two-year period of recovery and reflection, ‘Running With Scissors’ traces themes of growth, identity and reimagined adulthood.
“I wanted to make myself sound more brave,” he continues of the album. “And I wanted to impress people with my voice, like, ‘wow, he’s actually got some pipes.’” He adds, “I want them to enter this new era with me and not feel like it’s for kids. Because I’m not a kid anymore. I want it to feel like we’re moving forward together.”
