Tough Cookie have announced their debut UK headline tour and shared new single ‘Paycheck’

Tough Cookie are set to embark on their first UK headline tour and have released a new single, ‘Paycheck’, the final preview of their upcoming mixtape ‘The Countryside Is Good For You’.

The London alt outfit will play six headline shows, including Bristol’s Louisiana and Manchester’s YES Basement, culminating at Oslo, Hackney on 9th December.

Alongside the run, the band will join The Pill for an eight-date UK tour, opening with a sold-out Leeds date on 24th September before wrapping at Omeara, London, with sold-out stops in Bristol and Manchester also confirmed.

‘Paycheck’ arrives with a video depicting a commuter’s working-week routine, intercut with live performance footage. Frontperson August says, “I wrote this song on the way home from work – no headphones and a dead phone. I started noticing people, really seeing them – blank faces, tired eyes and I caught a reflection of myself in them. The brutal truth was I was stuck in a loop, worn down, sleep-deprived, and aching to escape it.”

‘The Countryside Is Good For You’ is due via Gravity Records and collects eight tracks developed over five years in the band’s East London basement. Marking a new chapter for the project, they add, “The Countryside Is Good For You is an honest account of navigating moments of vulnerability, disconnection, and escapism; a journey of self discovery amid chaos, we start as we mean to go on, from a place of sincerity.”
