Famous are set to go on an indefinite hiatus, confirming their forthcoming London headline at the ICA will serve as a farewell show. The South London group have also released ‘Revelation’, the first of two final tracks.
Sharing the decision, band leader Jack Merrett said: “We have come to the decision – in friendship and in celebration – that, following our show at the ICA, Famous will take an indefinite hiatus. This will be our final show, certainly in this incarnation and in any instance for the foreseeable future.
“I cannot say what these nine years have meant to me, nor express my gratitude to all of you for making them possible. They have, though, like anything to which you give everything, asked a lot of us: of me, of the band, and of our incredible team. We’ve made this decision to make room in our lives for other things but, perhaps more importantly, to ensure we never come to resent something so important to us.
“I have more to say, and many to thank. With your forbearance, we’ve released the first of two final songs today: Revelation.
“I hope you’ll join us in London.
“Jack”.
Emerging from the Brixton Windmill scene, Famous have released 2019 EP ‘England’ and 2021 follow-up ‘The Valley’, and last year’s debut full-length ‘Party Album’ on Untitled (Recs). The new single follows last month’s ‘Demons in London’.
